One of the most recognisable natural landmarks on the Sunshine Coast is the Glass House Mountains, surrounded by expansive working pine forests that play a vital role in Queensland’s forestry industry. These forests are managed and maintained by HQ Plantations, with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Pepper Productions partnered with HQ Plantations to develop a series of safety and awareness videos filmed on location within active forestry sites across the Sunshine Coast. The objective was to capture authentic interviews, real-world working environments, and cinematic visuals that support clear safety messaging—without disrupting live operations.
Our crew entered the sites fully equipped with high-visibility PPE and steel-cap boots, transporting camera and drone equipment deep into restricted logging areas. Filming in active forestry environments presents unique challenges, particularly around access limitations and heavy machinery in operation.
To safely navigate these constraints, we deployed specialised drone setups using longer 70mm and 150mm lenses. Flying low to the ground, these drones allowed us to replicate ground-level camera movement while maintaining safe distances from equipment and personnel. This approach delivered immersive visuals that place viewers inside the environment—without compromising site safety.
The finished safety campaign combines cinematic aerial footage, on-site interviews, and environmental visuals to communicate HQ Plantations’ commitment to safe forestry practices. The project resulted in a versatile library of photo and video assets designed for internal training, external communications, and long-term awareness campaigns.
